Pittsburgh Business Times Series Continues to Draw Attention to Pittsburgh’s Key Role in Safety Innovation
Type: News
Focus Area: Patient Safety
In a city renowned for its resilience and innovation, the "Think Pittsburgh. Think Safety." series shines a spotlight on Pittsburgh's dedication to creating safer industries, workplaces, and communities. Sponsored by JHF and featured in the Pittsburgh Business Times, the series offers an examination of the collaborative efforts that define Pittsburgh’s approach to safety.
Behind the series is freelance writer Laurie Bailey, whose been reporting in Pittsburgh for over 25 years. Bailey explores the intersection of leadership, innovation, and regulation in advancing safety practices across sectors. Her work has appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, NextPittsburgh, Table Magazine, Kidsburgh, and more.
"Safety is a key component in all of our lives, and we should all be aware of Pittsburgh's safety history. This series, based on the tenets of workplace safety, will not only spark family dinner table-worthy conversations, but also enlighten our community about the ongoing local efforts and contributions to a safer workplace in all industries,” Bailey said.
JHF funded the series to highlight the importance of prioritizing safety in all forms, especially in health care. The series was sparked by JHF’s February 29, 2024 Safety Innovation Summit, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Technology Council, which convened 130 leaders from diverse sectors—including transportation, energy, manufacturing, health care, and labor—to discuss and share successful safety interventions and strategies in an effort to position Pittsburgh as the "Safety Capital of the World.”
The “Think Pittsburgh. Think Safety.” series reflects JHF’s belief that sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration can spark progress, benefiting not just Pittsburgh but industries worldwide.
